Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives. You give relevant examples from work, medicine, food production and military technology, so the response addresses the topic. However, the ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained. For instance, you mention machines and genetically improved seeds but do not show in detail how these changes improve people’s lives or discuss any limits to your position. The military example is also not clearly connected to the main claim. The conclusion repeats the introduction instead of drawing together your reasons. The response is 13 words below the required minimum, and this contributes to the limited development. Extend the key examples and explain their effects more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The body paragraphs group examples by topic, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “On the other side” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the shift from food production to military technology is abrupt, and the relationship between military equipment and improving people’s lives needs to be made explicit. Some links are mechanical or inaccurate, including “On the other side,” while repeated references to science and improvement make the argument feel circular. The conclusion largely repeats the opening. Use clearer topic sentences, develop one main point at a time, and use referencing and transitions to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use topic-related vocabulary such as “medical sector,” “genetically evolved seeds,” “production” and “technology,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “easy accesible to completion of work” and “provide facilate to live for long days” do not express the intended benefits naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “completly,” “improvemnets” and “achived.” Aim to use precise, familiar collocations rather than assembling phrases word by word; for example, explain that machines “make tasks more efficient” or that treatments “help people live longer.” Proofreading would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including examples introduced with “For example” and “resulting…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns as well as in more complex attempts. Examples include “science play” and “everyone life,” where agreement and possessive forms are incorrect, and “Work that done manually,” which is missing a verb. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure: “science play a vital role… to make better by involving in works.” These errors can make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clauses, then build longer sentences using clear cause-and-effect structures.
