Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing debate regarding about the science has become an important part of modern society.I completely agree that the main aim of science shuld be to improve people's lives brcause it provides many benefits to society. My inclination is justified in the upcoming paragraphs with relevant examples.
To begin with, the foremost reason is that science has made significant improvemnets in the medical field. In the past, many people lost their lives because of serious diseases. However, nowadays, doctors can treat many illnesses with the help of modern technology and medicines. To illustrate, vaccines help prevent dangerous diseases and medical equipment allows doctors to identify health problems at early stage,As a result, people can live longer and healthier lives.
Furthermore, science makes our daily lives easier and more comfortable.Modern technology helps people communication with others, travel easily and complete their work quickly. For instance, smarthones and the internet allow people to communicate with family members who live in different countries.
On the contrary, there are some drawbacks too.Firstly, sometimes high level of technology is not affordable for the people.By this I mean, nowadays many products very expensive such as washing mashine, smartphones, microwave and many more.Children always want to buy this kind of equipments, but their parents not afford it.As a result cildren want to become angry.
To conclude,i strongly agree with this statement because of science has made significant impromentsmedical fields as well as it makes people lives easier and more comfortable. However, this situation have some drawbacks too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples from medicine and everyday technology. The discussion of vaccines and medical equipment explains how science can support longer, healthier lives. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the ideas are brief and not fully developed. The point about expensive technology shifts towards affordability and children’s reactions, but you do not explain how this drawback relates to the most important aim of science or weigh it against your position. The response also contains 231 words, below the required 250. Develop each reason with fuller explanation and a specific example, and clarify why the counterpoint does not change your overall view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting your view, a paragraph presenting a drawback, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression between ideas is limited, and the linking can feel mechanical. The paragraph beginning “On the contrary” introduces a drawback but does not clearly connect it to the question of science’s main aim; the link between expensive products and children becoming angry is also abrupt. Some sentences run together because spaces after punctuation are missing, which makes the organisation harder to follow. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make each paragraph develop one connected point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “medical field,” “vaccines,” “modern technology,” and “healthier lives.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “foremost reason” and “relevant examples.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate, which can make meaning less clear. Examples include “helps people communication,” “this kind of equipments,” and “significant impromentsmedical fields.” Spelling errors such as “shuld,” “brcause,” and “smarthones” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; a wider range of precise terms for scientific benefits and limitations would make the argument more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple sentences and some longer structures, including a reason-and-result sequence: “As a result, people can live longer and healthier lives.” Most of the main ideas remain understandable, but errors occur frequently and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “There is an ongoing debate regarding about the science has become” has an incorrect clause structure, while “many products very expensive” is missing a verb. Other issues include “their parents not afford it,” “this situation have,” and missing or incorrect articles in phrases such as “at early stage.” Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences joined directly after commas or full stops. Practise complete clause patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
