Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in favour of the statement and give relevant reasons: science can improve health through medical research and make daily life more convenient through communication, transport and education. These examples show an understanding of the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the ideas are brief and largely asserted rather than explained or supported with specific examples. The conclusion narrows the main aim to health, although the body also argues for convenience and productivity, so your position is not fully consistent. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can develop your reasons. Extend each main point with a specific example and explain how it improves people’s lives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Furthermore”, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is less controlled: several examples are joined into long strings, and the second body paragraph moves quickly from lectures to food delivery without explaining the connection between them. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the health point rather than drawing together both reasons. Improve cohesion by separating examples into clear sentences, using references such as “These developments”, and ensuring the conclusion reflects the full argument. Paragraphing is appropriate, but ideas need more orderly development.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “scientific research”, “medicine”, “transportation”, “education” and “productive”. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “hale and hearty” and “in the comfort of your home”. However, the range is limited and some choices or spellings reduce accuracy: “covenient” is misspelled, “qnd” and “ur” are informal or incorrect, and “free” is imprecise when describing patients recovering from illness. Repeated use of “science”, “people” and “easier” also makes the writing less varied. Aim for accurate, formal collocations and vary key terms—for example, use “scientific advances” or “medical treatment” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main points using simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, such as the sentence beginning “through scientific research doctors can get medicine”. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. For example, “science is important for improving peoples health, and make people live” has a faulty verb pattern, while “all this are the things that makes life” contains agreement errors. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, particularly in the paragraph about convenience, making relationships between clauses harder to follow. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “i agree”. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and punctuation.
