Student answer (Band 5.5)
The great purpose of science should be to iprove individual's lives.
Actually I agree with this statement.Because people and the nations are totally dependent on science or the technology in today's world.Modern world has made because of the uses of science.Scientists are really doing in their invention.Such as computer, smartphone, wifi(internet method) etc.
Individuals have became very intelligent nowadays. They don't want to work or lead their live like the past 20 years.Everyone wants to manifest their wishes by the great uses of technology.People want to realistic things which they visualize.Like in the past, every person didn't use the wireless phone or smartphones. They only know about the landphone which was not wireless and it was only used in the home because of the carrying issues. For the invention of wireless phones, people can easily carry it one place to another place and communicate with the people all over the country.
In addition, i will say about the purpose of the science.Scientists are doing a great job in this modern world. But they also need to about the uses process of these technology. They make sure that if these are not harmful for the nation and the public both.If modern science improve, people can lead their live without any doubt.
Moreover, i would like to say that the uses and the invention can be more harmful and more useful in the present days. For that reasons, people might face some difficult issues in the future. So, the most important thing is the purpose or aim should be to improve people's lives to lead their life happily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that science should aim to improve people’s lives, and the example of wireless phones shows a relevant practical benefit. You also recognise that technology can be harmful and that scientists should consider its effects on the public. However, the response only partially develops the task. The phone example is explained, but the other points—such as people becoming “very intelligent” and the possible future difficulties—are asserted rather than supported with specific reasons or examples. The discussion also focuses mainly on technology, without explaining more broadly how science can improve lives, for instance through medicine or environmental research. Develop each main reason and connect it explicitly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, and linking expressions such as “In addition” and “Moreover” signal that you are adding points. The progression from general agreement to a phone example and then to possible risks is understandable. However, the overall argument does not build consistently: the final paragraphs introduce concerns about harmful technology without clearly explaining how these support your central claim. Some transitions feel mechanical, and several sentences repeat the idea that science or technology improves life rather than advancing the discussion. Use each paragraph for one distinct reason, then link its example back to your position. Clearer referencing and more purposeful transitions would make the line of argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “invention,” “wireless phones,” “communicate,” and “harmful,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “Scientists are really doing in their invention” does not express a clear idea, while “uses process of these technology” is awkward and imprecise. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “iprove,” “became,” and “live” where “lives” is intended. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. More varied vocabulary for benefits, risks, and scientific fields would help you explain ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If modern science improve, people can lead their live without any doubt.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “people and the nations are totally dependent,” “Modern world has made,” and “Every person didn’t use,” which show problems with agreement, articles, and verb forms. Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unclear, particularly where a full stop is followed by “Because.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
