Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You state a clear position with “i will totally agree,” and you make a relevant connection between science, technology and everyday convenience by mentioning washing machines and cooking equipment. However, the response only minimally develops the argument: the point about education and getting a good job is not clearly linked to how science improves people’s lives, and the final point about people not knowing how to “recieve idea” is difficult to interpret. There are no explained examples or developed reasons to show why improving lives should be science’s most important aim. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so the task is not sufficiently addressed. To improve, explain two relevant reasons, support each with a specific example, and conclude by clarifying your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you begin with your opinion, then introduce points using “In one hand” and “in second hand.” This gives the reader some indication that you are moving between ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the links between science, knowledge, education and employment are not made explicit. The second body point repeats the idea of insufficient knowledge without showing how it develops the argument. Several sentences run together, and the response has no clear concluding paragraph. Use separate paragraphs for your introduction, each main reason and conclusion; then connect each point with clear references and transitions, such as “One way science improves lives is…” and “A further example is…”.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “quality of life,” “technology,” “facilities” and “good job,” and the examples of household appliances help indicate the subject you mean. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the message unclear, such as “inhance quality of life,” “students for leptop” and “recieve idea.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “sufficient knowledge about degree” does not clearly convey the intended point about education or qualifications. Aim to use accurate topic vocabulary and familiar collocations rather than assembling phrases whose meaning is uncertain. For example, describe how scientific advances “improve daily life” or “create employment opportunities,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make an effort to form longer sentences, for example with “if people dont have sufficient knowledge so life is hard,” and you use basic linking structures such as “if” and “while.” However, sentence patterns are often incomplete or incorrectly joined, which makes relationships between ideas hard to understand. In “i will totally agree with this essay,” the verb form and reference are not appropriate for stating an opinion; write “I totally agree with this statement.” Other examples include “people have sufficient knowledge about degree so they are easyly achieved good job,” where the clause structure and verb forms are unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several sentences beginning in lowercase or running together. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled subordinate clauses.
