Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and the discussion of cancer treatment is relevant and supported with a specific example about research in Pakistan. However, the response does not fully develop the central question of what science’s most important aim should be. The second body paragraph shifts towards science’s career prospects and educational opportunities, which shows science’s wider value but does not explain as directly why improving lives should be its primary aim. Some claims, such as the benefits of the diploma, are also asserted rather than linked back to your argument. Develop both reasons around the stated priority and explain how each example supports it more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. The ideas are generally easy to follow, and examples are placed alongside the points they illustrate. However, the progression is not always fully logical: the second body paragraph moves from science’s branches to career prospects and then to a diploma example, without clearly connecting these points to the claim about improving lives. Some linking phrases, including “Moreover,” are repeated, and the contrast signalled by “On the other hand” is not clearly established. Make the relationship between each paragraph and your position explicit, and use transitions that reflect the actual connection between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “pathogenic diseases,” “cancerous illnesses,” “plant extracts,” and “medical advantages.” These choices help communicate the subject and show an attempt to use less common language. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “the betterment of people’s lives,” “good scope in professional life,” and “less labor work.” There are also spelling or form issues, including “Scientist” where the plural is needed and “One the one hand.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations rather than more elaborate phrases when you are unsure of their use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “as” and a relative clause in “a medical institute that is offering…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “One of the crucial aspect” needs plural agreement, while “I completely agree with point” is missing an article. In “its significance in numerous fields encouraging the youth,” the sentence lacks a finite verb, and “Moreover its vast scope” needs punctuation after the introductory word. There are also agreement and article problems in “Scientist have developed” and “science field.” Check that each sentence has a complete verb structure, and review articles, plurals, and subject–verb agreement.
