Student answer (Band 5.5)

The crucial goal of science should be to enhance individuals lives. I completely agree with this statement because it can find treatments for medical purposes and also assist in the communication.

On the one hand, science main goal has for people's to live longer, therefore they are focusing on more medical purposes and finding more treatment for diseases which play a vital role in people's life. For instance, in past decades there are so many diseases and doctor have no treatment for this purpose, however, science has now developed medicines are still working and finding more and more treatment for different types of diseases, such as of cancer, aids and even in 2019 then find out the solution for the covid-19 and safe alot of life's this is due to the development of science.

On the other hand, it can improve communiction in country, like by development of new wedsites as well as new apps which can also assist in people's long lives. By knowing that what will happen such as people's nowadays have idea of rain falls as well as of news which can also help in people's life in many condition its all because of science new development and new ideas for making our's life easy, therefore when people's life has easy anfd then have no tension and spent there life with happyness so it will improve people's life automatically.

In conclusion, its have alot of positive development in medical purposes as well as in communiction and enhance people's life and hope to live longer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives. You address this through two relevant areas—medical treatment and communication—and the examples of cancer, AIDS and COVID-19 help illustrate the medical point. However, the two reasons are not developed equally. The medical paragraph explains how research can produce treatments, while the communication paragraph makes a less clear connection between websites, weather information, reduced tension and longer lives. The response would be stronger if you explained more precisely how communication improves people’s lives and supported that point with a specific example. A brief acknowledgement of other scientific aims, followed by an explanation of why human welfare should take priority, could also make your argument more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes your main position and the two supporting areas easy to identify. Some connections between ideas, however, are unclear or mechanical. In the second body paragraph, the move from communication apps to weather forecasts, reduced tension and longer lives is difficult to follow. The first body paragraph also contains a very long sentence that combines past diseases, current medicines and COVID-19 without clear separation. Use shorter sentences to show the relationship between each example and your claim, and make references such as “this” or “it” clearly identify the idea being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “treatments,” “diseases,” “development,” and “communication,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repeated. For example, “medical purposes” does not clearly express the idea of medical research, while “new wedsites” and “communiction” contain spelling errors. Phrases such as “people’s life” and “make our’s life easy” are also awkward, and “safe alot of life's” appears to mean saving lives. Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations. This will help you express the same relevant ideas more clearly and avoid repetition of “people’s life” and “new development.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “however.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate. For example, “science main goal has for people's to live longer” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “science has now developed medicines are still working” needs a relative clause or a separate sentence. There are also errors in agreement and tense, as in “doctor have no treatment” and “in past decades there are.” Improve control of articles, plurals and verb forms, and use full stops to divide long sentences. More accurate sentence construction will make your explanations easier to follow.
