Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the central topic and give a broadly supportive position, stating that science aims to improve people’s lives. The examples of easier travel and surgical techniques are relevant, and you also acknowledge pollution as a drawback. However, the response only partially develops the question of whether improving lives should be science’s most important aim: it does not explain how this aim compares with other possible priorities or develop a clear, sustained argument. The conclusion repeats the general view rather than resolving that issue. The response is also 26 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each example with a specific effect and make your degree of agreement explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits, a paragraph noting a drawback, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several linking expressions do not show the intended relationship. For example, “On other hands” introduces the medical example, while “However” then appears to continue the benefits rather than contrast them. “Contrarily” signals a contrast, but the drawback is only briefly stated. Some ideas are repeated, particularly the claim that science improves people’s lives. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to your argument, and reserve contrast markers for genuine contrasts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “innovations,” “surgical techniques,” and “pollution,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make the writing less clear, such as “inportant,” “interfers,” “disvantages,” and “drwabacks.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “make better lifestyle” and “latest version of surgical techniques.” Repetition of “science,” “people,” and “lives” further restricts the range. Build a bank of accurate collocations for discussing benefits and risks, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the examples without relying on repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify your main meaning. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently, including in basic sentence patterns. Examples include “The most important aim of science to make,” which is missing a verb, and “science discovers … and people use these new method,” where the plural form does not agree. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “Science interfers in the our daily life.” Punctuation is inconsistent, as in “procedure. However,” and some sentences join ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise forming accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check articles, agreement, plurals, and punctuation.
