Student answer (Band 6.0)
At present, science is already playing an important role in people's daily activites. However some argue that the major aim of science should be to improve people's lives. This essay agrees with the statement because technological advancement through science may contribute making people's life easier and employment opportunities.
Technological advancement has already solved a number of problems of our life. However, there are some sectors where science should contribute more such as writting support for blind people. In countries like Bangladesh, blind people need to carry another person in the exam hall to write on behalf of them. They do not have separate method for them. I think it is high time to use science in this sectors and help the blind people to be self dependent. It will make their life easier. For instance, my little sister is blind. She always had to take me as her writter in exam hall. She felt very uncomfortable because her classmates did not need anyone to write for them.
Advance use of science may lead to produce different kinds of job sectors. This is particularly relavent when scientists produce new technology, it requires to eshtablish in the market, attracts potential customers. For doing these, there may be need of human labour. As a result, new production can expand job sectors and employee oportunites. For example, when water filter was not common among people in our village, people used to come to our village homes to promot products describing its features and uses.
In conclusion, science can be used for various reasons but i believe all the outcome should be improving people's live making it easier and further opportunites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The example of your blind sister makes the need for assistive technology concrete, while the water-filter example supports your point about employment. This fits the task well, although the two reasons are not developed equally. The first paragraph explains the personal impact in detail, but the employment argument is less clear: the link between introducing a product and creating jobs is asserted rather than fully explained. The conclusion restates your view but adds little synthesis. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how scientific progress creates employment and connect each example explicitly to your central claim.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from assistive technology to employment is easy to follow, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “However” opens the second paragraph even though it does not clearly contrast with the preceding claim, and “For doing these” is an awkward link to the explanation of jobs. The reference in “It requires to establish in the market” is also difficult to follow. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its example explicit. This would make the argument flow more smoothly without changing its useful paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “technological advancement,” “potential customers,” and “self dependent,” and the examples make your meaning generally clear. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems that limit precision, such as “activites,” “writting,” “relavent,” “eshtablish,” and “oportunites.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “contribute making people’s life easier,” “produce different kinds of job sectors,” and “employee opportunities.” Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you explain the employment argument and the benefits of assistive technology with greater flexibility, while retaining the relevant vocabulary you already attempt.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional example beginning “when water filter was not common.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “may contribute making” needs a different verb pattern, and “it requires to establish in the market” has an unclear subject and faulty construction. There are also issues with articles and agreement in phrases such as “in this sectors” and “water filter was not common,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation of “I.” Practise accurate verb patterns and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation. Greater control of these structures would make your explanations clearer.
