Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, science provides multiple things for different purposes, which is for ease of people lives. Scientist aim using science to improve peole living is shown in their work that they already did for humanity. I strongly believe that the science mission is to help people in multiple way such as technology. The reason why i'm agree with the statement is because the work they already did is helpful for people in their lives and i agree that they should stick on this mission. If they continue the same aim it will be helpful in several ways for people such as they will invent more things that can help us to do something we are currently struggling with. The most common problem is life threaten diseases like Cancer and Aids.

The medical science is working on the sloution of this disease because a lot of people suffring from this issue. Science aim to find authentic formula to kill this disease virus is helpful about improving people lives. The cancer has no proper treatment if it spread in body and science is working on how to handle this condition. The soloution they will found will help the people suffring from this disease. First they will find a soloution then they will test it on animals and after that they will try it on someone as a experiment. If the results remained sucessful then this will be availible for public.

The aids is also a life threatren disease and readily found in public but if someone has this then this will be trasfor to others by different ways like eating in same plates or by physical relation. This disease has no treatment at the moment and science is working on it to find a soloution. for instance, if someone has this disease then the chances of their death is amost confirmed. Thats why science is working on this to help people suffring from this to save their lives.

Overall, science aims about people lives is siginificant and i strongly believe that the issues in healthcare people are facing nowaday will be solve soon. Only science can help us to compete these diseases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should improve people’s lives, and the discussion of medical research gives relevant support. The examples of cancer and AIDS show how scientific work could benefit people, so the response addresses the topic rather than moving away from it. However, the argument is only partly developed. Much of the essay repeats that science should find treatments and save lives, while the broader question of whether improving lives should be science’s most important aim is not explored in depth. The claim that AIDS has no treatment and is readily transmitted through shared plates is also inaccurate, which weakens the example. Explain the limits or competing aims of science and support claims with accurate, specific evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs discuss medical examples, and the conclusion restates your position. This gives the reader a basic route through the argument. However, progression is limited because the paragraphs largely repeat the same point about finding cures, and the first paragraph combines several ideas without clearly separating them. Linking phrases such as “The reason why” and “For instance” are used, but connections between claims are sometimes unclear; for example, the sequence from testing a solution on animals to trying it on a person needs clearer explanation. The conclusion introduces no further insight. Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason, then use clear references and transitions to show how each example supports your central argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical science,” “treatment,” “disease,” and “experiment,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several key words are repeated frequently, especially “help,” “people,” “disease,” and “solution.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “suffring,” “sloution,” “sucessful,” and “availible,” and some word combinations are unnatural, including “science mission” and “improving people lives.” These issues sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, particularly in the discussion of AIDS transmission. Build a more precise range of health and research vocabulary, check spelling carefully, and learn common collocations as complete phrases rather than translating them word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional forms such as “If they continue the same aim” and “If the results remained successful.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in phrases such as “science provides multiple things,” “the solution they will found,” and “the chances of their death is almost confirmed.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention; for example, “as a experiment” and the lowercase “for instance” after a full stop. These errors recur and can make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past and future forms, articles, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
