Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that improving people’s lives should be science’s foremost aim, while acknowledging a possible drawback. The examples about weather warnings and medical scanning equipment are relevant and show how science can protect people and support diagnosis. However, the discussion of the opposing point—that reliance on science can reduce confidence and effort—is less fully explained, and the claim that science has other aims is introduced but not developed. The healthcare survey is also mentioned without details that would show how it supports your point. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example more precisely and clarify how your qualification fits your overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on dependence, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow your main line of argument. You also use linking expressions such as “Another compelling reason,” “However,” and “In conclusion.” At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Which makes the healthcare profession more…” is a fragment, and “Although… while…” in the conclusion combines linkers in a confusing way. Several ideas in the benefits paragraph are crowded together, with unclear references such as “from this.” Use complete sentences, make pronouns refer clearly to their subjects, and organise each paragraph around one main point with a clear explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “prediction,” “precaution,” “healthcare system,” “equipment,” and “dependent.” These choices help communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word forms, spellings, and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Examples include “science power,” “high range of equipment,” “standarble,” and “benificial”; these make parts of the argument harder to understand. “Science” is also repeated frequently where more precise terms such as research, technology, or medical advances could be used. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your examples clearer and your argument more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You try to use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “As” and “Although,” and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “These days science have a one foremost aim” has errors in subject–verb agreement and article use, while “they can follow their prediction and looking for precaution” does not maintain a consistent verb pattern. Some sentences beginning with “Which” are incomplete, and punctuation is often missing after sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when their relationship is clear. Check agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
