Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a position in the opening: science improves life, although it also has disadvantages. The examples of electricity, refrigeration, cooking and medical equipment are relevant, and you acknowledge risks such as addiction and health problems. However, the response addresses the question only partially: it does not explain clearly why improving people’s lives should be science’s most important aim, or consider other possible aims. Several points are asserted rather than developed—for example, the claim that electricity “remove[s] the darkness” is not connected to a fuller explanation of its impact. The conclusion is incomplete, ending at “It should be used just fo”. The response also falls 60 words short of the required minimum. Develop your position with specific explanations and examples, and complete the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about science’s benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. Basic linking expressions such as “Even if” and “In conclusion” also signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and the benefits paragraph moves quickly from electricity to several appliances without explaining how these examples support the central claim. Some connections are awkward or unclear, including “Because of the blessings of science” after the preceding sentence fragment. The final sentence is cut off, so the conclusion does not provide a complete ending. Build each paragraph around one main point, explain the link between examples and your position, and use transitions accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “civilization,” “contribution,” “addiction,” “health problems” and “medical instrument,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less clear. For example, “science plays a major role to improve” is not a natural collocation, and “fridge food” does not express the intended idea clearly. There are also spelling errors such as “drankness,” “refrigaretor” and “firnly.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Using a wider range of accurate terms for scientific advances and their effects would make the discussion more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Even if science has a lot of great contribution, it has some demerits too.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “our life has became,” “Electricity remove,” and “science has a lot of great contribution.” The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “despite of,” while punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, as in “electricity.Electricity.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Practise accurate past participles and subject–verb agreement, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
