IELTS Writing Task 2 question
The most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answers and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argured that the most significant prospect of science should be to increase indivisual's daily life. I completely agree with this statement.
There are numerous reasons why I believe science has different aspects in person's lives. One possible reason is that people will get better life if advanced medical treatment can be implemented in their life such as Cryosergery, modern X-ray, critical operations etc. Resulting in removing major problems will be so easier that will change their entire lifestyle. Furthermore, In the field of technology, Scienee has added more and more advanced system in making car, bike, bus. As like recently Elon Mask's company, Space-X, has invented new Tesla Car that can easily fly on the air.
Moreover, Weather forecasting becomes so simpler than the previous time by the help of technology. It not only tells us about the present day's weather but also gives idea about the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and the response gives relevant examples from medicine, transport technology and weather forecasting. These points show an understanding of how science can improve daily life. However, the task is only partially addressed because the ideas are brief and mostly asserted rather than explained. For example, you mention medical treatments and say they can change people’s lifestyles, but do not explain how or provide a specific example of their impact. The claim about a flying Tesla also needs clarification and support. The response is 100 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop reasons and examples. Extend each main point and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, followed by points introduced with “One possible reason,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover.” This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, the progression is limited because the ideas are presented as a short list rather than developed through connected paragraphs. The medical-treatment sentence beginning “Resulting in removing major problems” is not clearly linked grammatically or logically to the preceding point, and the final weather-forecasting idea ends without a concluding sentence. Use separate body paragraphs, explain each point in a logical sequence, and add a conclusion that restates your position. Clearer links between claims, explanations and examples would make the organisation more effective.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “advanced medical treatment,” “weather forecasting,” and “technology,” and these choices make your subject clear. There are also attempts at more specific terms, such as “Cryosergery” and “critical operations.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning less clear: “argured,” “indivisual's,” “Scienee,” and “Elon Mask” appear to be misspellings, while “prospect of science” is not a natural way to express the main aim. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “better life” and “added more and more advanced system.” Build accuracy with common academic collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more effective and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “One possible reason is that…” and another using “not only…but also.” However, control is uneven, and several sentence structures are faulty. “Resulting in removing major problems will be so easier” is an incomplete and difficult-to-follow construction; it needs a clear subject and a correctly formed verb phrase. In “people will get better life,” the article is missing, and “in person’s lives” does not show a clear plural or possessive relationship. The sentence about technology and vehicles also has an unclear structure. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles, agreement and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
