Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environmental problems haven become a major concern worldwild. While some peoplethink that the extinction of certain plants and species is the biggest environmental problem, other argue that problems such as climate change, air pollution and global warming are more serious problems. In my opinon, although extinction of plant and species is a significant problem. but climate change, and pollution are even more serious.

On the one hand, loss of a particular species is serious environment concern. Every plant and animal play very crucial role in maintaining the balance of nature. As if one species get extinct it can disturb the food chain and negatively effect other living organism. For example, if the bees get extinct or disappear this will reduce pollination, which is essential for some plant growth. Therefore, protecting endanger speciesis necessary for maintaining biodiversity and balanced environment.

On the other hand, many people believe that other environmental problem are more important because it affect the entire planet and humans such as, climate change, water pollution and deforestation are the major roblems faced by the world today. For instance, global warmng has increased temperature, will leads to extreme weather conditions and contribute to rise of sea levels. similarly, air pollution can lead to a serious health issues, specially respiratory problem. This issues effect millions of people.

In conclusion, both the loss of biodiversity and other environmental issues issues deserve attention. However, I believe that goverment and individuals should give great to controle pollution and climate change while also prot

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference: species loss is serious, but climate change and pollution are more serious. The two body paragraphs give relevant support, including the effect of bee loss on pollination and the human-health consequences of air pollution. This meets the task, but some points are less fully developed than others. The first view is explained through one main example, while the second lists several problems without explaining in detail how they compare in scale or urgency. The conclusion also begins to restate your position but ends before completing the final idea, so it does not fully consolidate your recommendation. Develop the comparison more explicitly and finish the conclusion with a complete, specific statement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For instance” introduces examples, but the relationship between the list of environmental problems and the claim that they affect the entire planet could be explained more smoothly. The sentence beginning “As if one species…” also disrupts the flow of the first body paragraph. The conclusion is cut off, weakening the sense of completion. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “extinction,” “food chain,” “pollination,” “biodiversity,” and “extreme weather conditions,” which allows you to discuss both views. There are also attempts at more specific environmental language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, as in “worldwild,” “opinon,” “endanger species,” and “global warmng.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “serious environment concern” and “give great to controle pollution.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, although the main ideas remain understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “a serious environmental concern” and “take strong action to control pollution.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional explanation of how species loss can affect food chains and a contrast between the two views. However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “Every plant and animal play” (subject–verb agreement), “if one species get extinct” (conditional verb form), and “global warming has increased temperature, will leads” (incomplete and incorrectly formed clause). The opening also contains a sentence fragment: “although extinction … is a significant problem. but…” Aim to connect clauses correctly, check agreement and verb forms, and use punctuation to avoid fragments. Practising accurate conditional and cause-and-effect sentences would improve clarity.
