Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is no denying the fact that our envirenment has a problem and it might be in danger for some resons, it is a commonly held belief that the principal environmental issue of our time is the loss of some species of plants and animals, there is also an argument that there are more crucial environmental problems. This essay will analyze this topic from both point of views and express my own opinion.
To begin with, every living beign has its own role in our environment and most of them has a relation to keep other species safe, in other words, this world is constructed as a chain where we all need each other to stay alive. In addition, by protecting particular species of animals and plants we automatically protect nature, for example, there are some insects and animals that consider plants as their main food resources such as bees and cows and they provide us food like milk and honey.
In the other hand, polution problem is considered more important because by keepingthe environment clean we automatically prevent other problems to happen, ot is also possible to say, our world needs us to be united and work as a one person to protect it. Moreover, in our time industrial zones are having a huge part of enviremental problems as they cause a lot of water pollution, this can be from dumping chemicals in rivers and ocean, for instance, in my city Skikda we have a big chemical company called Sonatrach who dumps chemicals in the beach and this affected us people and sea animals.
In conclution, there is no easy answers to this question, in balance, i believe that there are more important enviremental problems we should solve.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state your opinion: the first body paragraph explains why species matter, while the second argues that pollution is more urgent, and the conclusion repeats that position. The examples of bees and cows and the chemical company in Skikda make the discussion relevant. However, the ideas are only partly developed. The link between protecting species and protecting nature is asserted rather than explained, and the pollution paragraph moves from cleanliness to industrial dumping without showing why this is the most important problem compared with species loss. Your position is clearest in the conclusion; make it explicit in the introduction and support each view with a more fully explained reason or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “In the other hand” does not correctly signal contrast, and “In addition” introduces a point that largely repeats the previous claim rather than extending it. The long opening sentence also combines several ideas, making the introduction harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and ensure each supporting sentence develops the paragraph’s main point; more precise referencing would also clarify what “this” refers to in the pollution example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “species,” “industrial zones,” “water pollution,” and “dumping chemicals,” so the reader can understand the main subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “envirenment,” “polution,” “beign,” and “resons.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “work as a one person” and “food resources” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Aim to learn accurate environmental collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing general expressions such as “more crucial environmental problems” with specific terms, for example “industrial pollution” or “habitat destruction,” would make your argument more precise and varied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “animals that consider plants as their main food” and a conditional structure in “by keeping the environment clean we automatically prevent other problems.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “most of them has” instead of “most of them have,” “every living being has its own role … and most of them,” where the pronoun reference shifts, and “there is no easy answers,” which has subject–verb and number disagreement. Several sentences are joined with commas despite containing multiple complete ideas. Practise agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, and use shorter, accurately punctuated sentences before adding more complex structures.
