Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is a debate in which some people assert that ecological issues of modern times is depletion of particular species of flora and fauna. However, others argue that there are other more essential environmental problems. This essay will discuss both perspectives before reaching any conclusion with relevant examples.

To begin with, it isa serious concern about environmental challenges of loss of particular kinds of plants and animals. First and foremost reason is the increasing population day by day, that's why people need to build houses and buildings living for their own. For fulfill this requirement, they can lead to deforestation to get wood and other useful resources. Secondly, for maintenance of healthy body, some individuals eat meat of different kinds of animals such as, cock, pig, cow, and goat. They think that animals body provide essential nutrients, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats for development of their bodies. To illustrate with example, According to BBC News, 60% of particular kinds of species are depleted till 2025.

Nevertheless, there are some other important ecological issues for discussion. On the one hand, factories and industries generate various types of pollution, such as air, water, soil, and noise pollution, by using harmful materials and releasing toxic emissions. This pollution can lead to several health problems, including asthma, allergies, hearing loss, and other respiratory diseases. On the other hand, climate change contributes to global warming by increasing Earth's temperature, and intensifying the effects of the sun's heat. As a result, significant fluctuations in temperature have become more common. For instance, according to research, a warning is issued in India, if the temperatures rises above 37*C.

To recapitulate, although loss of particular species is serious threat, another issues are also equally important. Government should take measurable steps to reduction of the loss of the biodiversity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the loss of species and other environmental concerns. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why species loss occurs is a bit disjointed, moving from population growth to meat consumption without a clear link. The opinion is mentioned in the introduction but is not clearly sustained or integrated into the conclusion, which remains quite brief. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your personal opinion is more explicitly woven into the discussion rather than just mentioned in the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Nevertheless', and 'On the one hand', which help the reader follow the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between population growth and species loss could be more explicitly stated. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depletion', 'flora and fauna', and 'biodiversity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'build houses and buildings living for their own' and 'animals body provide'. Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'maintenance of healthy body'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive or awkward phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic, topic-specific collocations would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the loss of particular species'), subject-verb agreement ('temperatures rises'), and preposition usage ('to reduction of'). Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or awkward, such as 'First and foremost reason is the increasing population day by day'. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding article usage and verb forms, and try to incorporate more varied complex structures with greater precision.
