Student answer (Band 6.0)
Fe people say that the main environmental problem is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. While others say that there are more important environmental problems.
We lost so many plants and animals from last generations. But now a days there so many reasons for environmental problem like pollution, plastic, deforestation etc., We are using plastic which is not a biodegradable product and harmful to the environment. We have many factories or vehicles or any other thing which releases smoke outside leads to pollution which is also effecting our environment.
For example, We are cutting trees to extend the land for construction of houses, roads, building or recreational buildings, hospitals etc., for that we are doing deforestation because due to increase in population in this way also we are damaging the environment. When we have more nature then only we will have a good cycle of seasons and every other problem will be in limits. When we do deforestation we not only loose trees but also animals they will not have free space to live. We need to stop using plastic where it is not biodegradable and effecting the earth if we we can't inhale the smoke which causes so many respiratory problems instead of plastic we can use paper or cloth. We can grow plants at home atleast we can do a little bit without cutting the trees we can live all people together like older generations.
In my opinion, we have a lot environmental problems to solve inn that one of the problem is we are losing species of plants or animals where we need to think and do something atleast now to save our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the loss of species and other environmental issues. However, the development is limited. While you mention pollution and deforestation, the connection back to the specific debate—whether species loss is the 'main' problem—is weak. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the argument lacks depth. To improve, ensure you explicitly compare the two viewpoints and provide a more structured justification for your own opinion. The conclusion is present but lacks a clear summary of the points discussed, making the overall position feel slightly underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. There is a reliance on simple connectors like 'For example' and 'But', and some sentences feel disconnected from the previous ones. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to create a smoother flow between your ideas and to better signal the relationship between the two opposing views.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use basic terms such as 'good', 'bad', and 'things', which limits the sophistication of your argument. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'effecting' instead of 'affecting' and 'loose' instead of 'lose'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science, such as 'biodiversity', 'ecosystem', 'sustainability', or 'industrial emissions', and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there so many reasons'), incorrect preposition usage, and run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and article usage to improve your accuracy.
