Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some peoples say that the main environmental problem in our time is the extinction of particular species of plants and animals but on the other hand some says that they are not the major environmental problems of now a days. The environment is becoming an important issue in the world because of their environmental problems. firstly I explain both sides of peoples thinking about problems then I gave my opinion which sides peoples saying reality.
In the first hand loss of plants species and animals species is the major problem because every species have main role in our environment. if one species effected by any problem they effect other so coming next years these species are not exist in the world. plants and animals are the source of food and medicine so if any harm situation comes there is no reproduction of medicine and food. Biodiversity also helps nature to reduce disasters they are also effected by environment . For instance bees are disappear the Pollination of crops also decreases many types of flowers do not available.
On the other hand many individuals argue that climate change, pollution, Deforestation are the major cause in harm environment. because climate change causes floods natural disasters and the heatwaves which is effected humans as well as animals. Second cause is pollution of water and air factories sends their harm poison by air which is effected on human health for instance My uncle are living in a town of Karachi which is situated near a factory they are living after 10 years now they are the patient of asthma. Deforestation is also harms environment because when the lots of trees are cutting by our government they effect animals and humans. animals became homeless.
In my opinion although the extinction of plants and animals species is the serious environmental problem but climate change pollution and deforestation are the major cause because they effected humans and animals. therefore these issue should be given the more priority.
In conclusion both views are important however I strongly believe that the pollution and climate change are the major causes. if these problems are not solved quickly they will cause serious destruction for both human and nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention biodiversity and climate change, the explanations are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about bees and pollination is a good start but is not fully linked to the broader environmental impact. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with a clear logical connection to the main argument. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall structure of the argument could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'In the first hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of these are used incorrectly or sound unnatural, such as 'In the first hand' instead of 'On the one hand'. Additionally, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns and referencing are clear throughout the text to create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'major problem', 'harm', and 'effected' (often used incorrectly instead of 'affected'). There are also issues with word choice, such as 'harm situation' and 'they are not exist'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'biodiversity', 'pollination', and 'deforestation', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Some peoples say', 'every species have', 'they effect') and verb forms ('they are not exist', 'bees are disappear'). Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors impact the readability of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of active and passive voice.
