Student answer (Band 6.5)
There are different kinds opinions that cause environmental problems. Some people think that the main environmental issue of our time is the loss of specific species of plants and animals. While others say that there more problems. In my opinion, there are bigger environmental problems than the loss of some particular species.
Those who say the loss of plants and animals are the main environmental problem argue that, there is a lot of increase in the pollution due to loss of some kind of species. And loss of some particular animal is disrupting the lifecycle of animals. However, I believe that this view does not cover the main important environmental problem.
Others argue that, there are many other problems for example, the waste and trash that humans throw creates a lot of chaos that people must be aware of. And industrialization made it even worse for the environment, because they evacuate the forests for this and plants and animals are being thrown out from their home. In my view, i agree that contaminated air and water are the main problems as without the water we cannot grow plants and the issues cannot be resolved. And the animals which lost their home might become a huge problem for the humans that live i nthe nearby areas of forest.
In conclusion, while loss of species of plants and animals might seem like the main environmental problem, I strongly believe that the contamination of water and industrialization are even bigger problems which have a much larger impact on the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why species loss is a problem is vague, and the discussion on industrialization lacks specific examples or depth. The arguments are presented in a general way rather than being fully extended. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete evidence or detailed reasoning for your claims. While the position is clear throughout the essay, the supporting points need more substance to fully satisfy the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However' and 'In conclusion,' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. Some transitions feel abrupt, such as the start of the second paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more explicit. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'problems' and 'things' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'evacuate the forests' (instead of 'clear' or 'deforest') and 'thrown out from their home' (instead of 'displaced' or 'loss of habitat'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and use more precise verbs and adjectives to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Examples include 'There are different kinds opinions' (missing 'of'), 'there more problems' (missing 'are'), and 'the animals which lost their home might become a huge problem for the humans that live i nthe nearby areas' (spelling and phrasing issues). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and proofreading for minor typos.
