Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is arguable that the major issue concerning us is the becoming extinction of biodiversity. On the flip side, the problems which are perceived greatly crucial than environmental issues. I will discuss both views with clear evidence.

On the one hand, the effective factor why population support the side of the loss of biodiversity is the ecosystem because the earth has own cycle and system for ongoing. For instance, a large amount of animals feed with grass and carnivore eat the animals to survive. Generally, there is gigantic and fantastic circle that everything gets involved in it. The one professor says, ' Life is battle of surviving'. Another reason for community encouraging the view is merely might be related to their nutrition and calories from creatures' meat and the beauty of nature as when we are depressed, the green and clean environment enhances our well-being and also the food they eat everyday except for vegans. Therefore, it must be implemented problem for mankind.

On the other hand, there are outnumbering issues which affect huge impact for human's life. For example, the climate change, which influences earth to be boiling, becoming more widespread. In addition, factory emissions and any other emission release carbon dioxide into the air and it is causing the climate change. Thereby, it is completely the pressing issue.

In conclusion, in spite of the fact that other environmental problems are significant for politics and citizens, i strongly support the view that the environmental problem has to be implemented firstly at all and conservation is crucial for population who living on this planet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally unclear. For instance, the discussion on biodiversity relies on vague generalizations like 'everything gets involved in it' rather than specific, well-supported arguments. The second body paragraph regarding climate change is more focused but remains brief. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band score. The essay meets the basic requirements of the prompt but would benefit from more detailed explanations and concrete examples to fully explore the complexities of the environmental issues mentioned.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical or awkward, such as in the phrase 'the effective factor why population support the side of the loss of biodiversity.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions feel forced. While the overall structure is coherent enough to follow the writer's argument, the use of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility and naturalness required for a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'becoming extinction of biodiversity,' 'implemented problem,' and 'outnumbering issues.' The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, but these attempts often result in unnatural phrasing. To improve, the student should focus on learning common collocations and using words in their correct grammatical context. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main ideas, but the frequent inaccuracies prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'the problems which are perceived greatly crucial than environmental issues' (missing verb/comparative structure) and 'population who living on this planet' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is usually clear despite these errors, the frequency of mistakes in basic and complex structures limits the score. More attention to proofreading and mastering basic sentence construction would be beneficial.
