Student answer (Band 5.5)
Most of the people tend to believe that the main negative impact of environmental problem in current situation is loss of species of plants and animals. While others argue that there are another devastating issues related to environment like natural disaster. But in my own opinion, concurrent issues is climate change.
one of the major environmental concern of people is extinction of rare species of plant and animals. The growing population in the world has brought the significant changes in environment like deforestation. In addition, due to hunting tendency of people most of the rare and endangered animal are almost lost from the earth. For example, people used to cut down the trees in order to build the shelter for them. As a result, different rare species of plants will disappear from the world, meanwhile the shelter of animal (jungle) will be destroyed . Consequently, after that they will enter into the village and they got killed by the locals in defense.
While other people's concern is about the issues like natural disaster. Due to the unwanted behavior of the people (deforestation) may lead to natural calamities like land slide floods and so on. For example, when people cut down the trees there might be the high chance of land slide in monsoon or even in the winter like dry land slide.
However, in my perception the another last but not least issues is climate change. Climate change is highly associated with human action. Nowadays, people from all over the world use modern technologies. Excessive use of technologies like A/C, motor vehicles, refrigerator lead to emission of CO2, which negatively impact on atmosphere. In addition, emission of CO2 directly and negatively impacts on ozone layer. For instance, due to the emission of CO2 weather nowadays are unpredictable and becoming worst day by day. To address this type of problems state should impose penalties of high amount on deforestation and as well as the high price of the vehicles.
In conclusion, most of the people argue that contemporary environmental problems is loss of species of plants and animals. but in my opinion the major one is climate change. So, to address the problem government should take important steps.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding species loss is well-supported with examples like deforestation and human-animal conflict. The section on natural disasters is less developed, lacking specific examples of how they compare in severity to species loss. The final paragraph introduces climate change as the author's opinion, but this could have been integrated more smoothly as a balanced discussion rather than a separate point. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'For example', and 'Consequently', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be more fluid. The use of 'But' at the start of the final sentence in the introduction is stylistically informal. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task, though the flow between the discussion of the two views and the author's own opinion could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'extinction', 'endangered', 'deforestation', and 'natural calamities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'concurrent issues is climate change' (should be 'the concurrent issue') and 'unwanted behavior of the people' (which is slightly unnatural). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, preventing a higher score. The errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the significant changes', 'the shelter of animal'), subject-verb agreement ('weather nowadays are unpredictable'), and pluralization ('another devastating issues'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in spacing and capitalization. Despite these errors, the meaning is consistently clear, and the writer demonstrates enough control to communicate complex ideas. To improve, the writer should focus on article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement in more complex sentence constructions.
