Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding species loss and other environmental issues are relevant but lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of 'lab where science help to produce' is vague and lacks clarity. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments rely on general statements rather than fully extended points. To improve, you should focus on explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments, ensuring that each point is logically connected to the prompt's core question about the relative importance of these environmental problems.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Since past many decades' and 'adding to it' are used in ways that do not always flow naturally. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the loss of species and the proposed solutions is disjointed. While there is a logical progression from one viewpoint to the other, the transitions between sentences and ideas need to be smoother and more varied to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'getting distinct from a earth', 'vegetables production', and 'most worst'. The repetition of basic terms like 'pollution' and 'increase' limits the range. To improve, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning common collocations related to environmental topics will significantly enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('some people says'), incorrect article usage ('a earth', 'a lions'), and awkward phrasing ('there is several changes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, tense consistency, and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
