Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this era, environmental problems has become a major concern among the people. Some individuals believe that the main environmental problem is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Contradict to this others state that, there are many more crucial environmental problems. This essay will discuss both the statements.
To begin with the saying that environmental issues are raising because of the loss of specific plant and animal species. It is undeniable that, a lot of plants and animals play a vital role to balance our ecosystem. For instance, if a lion will not hunt for a deer and stay hungry then there will be a massive increase in the number of deer species. To maintain that balance in the system there is a chain. If that chain will break the whole ecosystem will be disturbed.
The one who disagree with the above also have their own points that should not be overlooked. They believe that there is a vital role of climate change in causing environmental issues. Due to the raising air pollution, global warming is increasing. This cause acid rain, which eventually harms the agricultural farms. There problems not only lead to loss in species but also affecting badly to human health and living conditions. Air pollution is causing global warming which further causing the rising sea levels.
To recapitulate, the main environmental problem is loss of species but for some individuals, they believe that it is happening due to drastic change in climatic conditions and air pollution. I would say, both the views are correct in there own respect.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, though the development is somewhat superficial. You identify the loss of species and climate change as key issues, but the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the example of the lion and deer is a bit simplistic and does not fully explain the broader environmental impact. Furthermore, your opinion in the conclusion is slightly contradictory; you state that both views are correct, but you do not clearly explain why you hold this balanced perspective or how these issues might be interconnected. To improve, ensure each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation and a concrete, real-world example to support your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'For instance', and 'To recapitulate' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of climate change and its consequences is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'These problems' in the third paragraph, which refers back to a list of issues that were not explicitly linked in the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, such as 'ecosystem', 'undeniable', and 'agricultural'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'Contradict to this' (should be 'In contrast to this') and 'raising air pollution' (should be 'rising'). You also repeat certain words like 'environmental' and 'problem' frequently. To reach a higher band, try to use more precise synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of saying 'affecting badly to human health', you could use 'adversely impacting human health'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('environmental problems has become'), incorrect verb tenses ('if a lion will not hunt'), and preposition errors ('in there own respect'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and conditional sentence structures. Proofreading for small errors like 'there' versus 'their' and ensuring consistent tense usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
