Student answer (Band 5.0)

Environmental problem is one of the most common problems Many people believe that thae main environmental issue of our time is the loss of particular species of plant and animals while other say there are several crucial environmenta challenges. I partly agree with both views and there are numerous reasons behind these perspectives.

One perspective is that plants and animals are being lost due to environmental issues because it can be seen that a lot of plant has been cut by Government and some animals are captured for zoos. Although there is limited growth of trees due to envirmental changes however, growth of animals is also controlled by authority. For example number of plants were grown on roads those were beneficial for us.

On the other persective, it is frequently believed, that there are various environmental issues which are faced by society because there are no precautions for environmental problems for example trafic pollution is also an environmental issue as well as climate changes. In countryside environment is better more than urban areas for example air problem is the cause which affects environment.

To sum up, I would say that plant and animals affect from environment problems and environment is also the main cause nowadays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The position is stated but not consistently maintained or explored in depth. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific, relevant examples and ensure that each paragraph contributes to a cohesive argument. The current length prevents a full discussion of the topic, leading to a superficial treatment of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions are often mechanical or misused, such as the awkward use of 'Although' and 'however' in the same sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a more coherent structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'problems' and 'issues'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'thae', 'environmenta', 'envirmental', and 'trafic', which occasionally impede readability. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and use synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on accuracy in spelling and word choice to ensure your message is conveyed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('a lot of plant has been cut'), article usage, and sentence structure. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, leading to confusion. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score. To improve, focus on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting complex ones. Pay close attention to pluralization and verb tenses, and proofread your work to correct basic punctuation and spelling mistakes.
