Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many individuals believe that nowadays the major environmental issue is losing significant species of animals and plants. However, others reckon that there are other problems which are more crucial. In this essay, I will discuss both of these views before presenting my own.

On the one hand, the extinction of certain trees and fauna is considered a real threat which can affect human life and the future. Plenty of species have been becoming extinct since decades ago and this trend has been continuing until now which can be very harmful for the next generation because they would not be able to see certain types of lions, tigers, birds or trees. As long as the new important sale of nature they won't care enough about it.

On the other hand, Some many argue that

there are more challenging

problems to be solved. Such as

Pollution, overpopulation and global warming

which all of them have a direct impact on the environment. As we can observe now in the metropolitan cities we are facing with increasing amount of population which can cause air and noise pollution. However, in my opinion, all of these problems are also related to animals and plants because if they are able to live on the earth humans can too.

In conclusion, many types of animals or plants not showing your child it is better way we protect them. While we are facing environment problem because many big city effects more. they are using more facilities it is effect in environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph touches on the importance of biodiversity, the second paragraph is fragmented and lacks clear logical progression. The conclusion is particularly weak, as it fails to clearly restate the position or summarize the main points effectively, instead introducing confusing phrasing like 'not showing your child'. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your opinion is consistently supported throughout the essay rather than just mentioned in passing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and poor sentence structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', but they are often followed by sentences that lack logical connection to the previous point. The final paragraph is particularly disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'problems', 'important', and 'things'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'new important sale of nature' and 'many big city effects more', which impede clarity. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to environmental issues, such as 'biodiversity', 'ecosystem', 'sustainability', or 'urbanization'. Expanding your range of collocations and avoiding vague phrasing will help you convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the meaning unclear. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'many types of animals or plants not showing your child', and sentence fragments, such as 'Such as Pollution, overpopulation and global warming'. The use of complex structures is attempted but often results in errors that hinder communication. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic punctuation and tense consistency would also be highly beneficial.
