Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear. While you mention the loss of species and other environmental problems like natural disasters, the arguments lack depth. For instance, the link between human survival and species loss is stated but not logically expanded. Furthermore, your own opinion is mentioned in the introduction but is not clearly integrated or supported in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single clear idea supported by specific, relevant reasoning rather than general statements. The conclusion is also incomplete, as it merely repeats the prompt rather than summarizing your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. For example, the use of 'However' and 'As a result' is frequent but does not always connect ideas logically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where 'it' is used ambiguously. Additionally, the conclusion is abrupt and fails to synthesize the points discussed. Improving the use of cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs more naturally will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms and some non-standard expressions, such as 'monitrice' (which is not an English word) and 'citizen state'. There is also some repetition of words like 'environmental', 'issues', and 'species'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'killing the species', you could use 'poaching' or 'habitat destruction'. Focusing on word choice and avoiding non-existent words will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people does not bother'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the problems of environment causing all around the world'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
