Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is uneven. While you mention the loss of species and other environmental problems, the discussion lacks depth. The argument regarding the importance of species loss is somewhat repetitive, and the 'other' environmental problems are not clearly contrasted or fully explored. Your position is stated in the introduction, but it is not consistently maintained or supported with strong, logical reasoning throughout the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, distinct point that directly supports your thesis, and use more specific examples to illustrate your claims rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the points is weak. The logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. To improve, focus on using transition words that show clear relationships between ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'magnify poppultaion' instead of 'growing population', 'ecology delimma' instead of 'ecological dilemma', and 'malody' instead of 'malady'. These errors occasionally impede communication. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of control over collocations and word forms prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on learning the correct context for academic words and proofreading for common spelling mistakes. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help you avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people believes'), incorrect sentence structure, and missing articles. Many sentences are awkward or incomplete, which makes the text difficult to read. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practice writing simple, error-free sentences before attempting more complex structures to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately.
