IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued by the majority of individuals that loss of particular species of flora and fauna has major ecological crisis. While some people reckon that there are other paramount environmental issues. I agree with letter notion because nowadays air, noise, soil , water pollution also become significant pronlem. I will discuss reasons and give relevant examples of this in subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, there are several more issues that are concerned. First of all, air pollution has bad impacts on human as well as nature. Air quality declined every day. People has faced respiratory illness like asthma.Apart from it, due to huge noise public prefer to close their windows in home also in offices. Thereby they are suffering psychological problems such as stress, depression.

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'major ecological crisis' (should be 'is a major ecological crisis') and 'pronlem' (spelling error). The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophisticated collocations expected at higher levels. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues and ensure accurate spelling and word forms.
