Student answer (Band 6.0)
The environmental issues are widely debated topics of today. Many people think that loss of plants and animals species are the main concern regarding environment while others think that there are other important environment related issues need to be addressed urgently. I believe that both these problems are interlinked and should be solved.
On the one hand, some people believe that many species of plants and animals like marine plants, tigers and polar bears are at the verge of extinction. Loss of a certain species causes disruption of food chain which disturbs other species which are dependent on them for food. Consequently, this effect whole echo system. Therefore, these loss of species are the root cause of environmental issues. Actions should be taken to save these plants and animals to preserve the ecosystem.
On the other hand , many people think that other problems like air pollution, deforestation, global warming are more important environmental issues. Industrialization and modernization caused carbon emissions leading to pollution. Furthermore, melting of glaciers and rising sea levels are adding to the severity of the problem.
In conclusion, both these problems are interrelated. I believe, environmental pollution leads to species loss which in turn aggravate the situation and generate of vicious cycle. Both matters should be solved. Steps should be taken at international level and government should pass legislation regarding use green environment, avoid deforestation and use of renewable energy sources to tackle the problems. So that, we can save worlds environment and species for our future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the food chain and ecosystem, the explanation remains quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of how species loss directly impacts human life or global stability. Similarly, the discussion on pollution is brief. The conclusion effectively synthesizes your position, but the overall depth of the argument is more characteristic of a Band 6.0, as the ideas are relevant but not fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the discussion of species loss and the broader environmental issues could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'extinction', 'disruption', 'industrialization', and 'renewable energy sources'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'these loss of species' (should be 'this loss') and 'generate of vicious cycle' (should be 'generate a vicious cycle'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring grammatical accuracy when using complex nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'loss of plants and animals species are' (subject-verb agreement), 'this effect whole echo system' (should be 'affects the whole ecosystem'), and 'use green environment' (missing preposition). These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb and article errors would significantly improve your score.
