Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, logical argument. While you mention both views, the development is limited and often repetitive. The position is somewhat unclear due to the fragmented nature of the sentences. To improve, ensure you clearly state your opinion in the introduction and dedicate separate paragraphs to each viewpoint, providing specific, well-developed examples for each. Currently, the ideas are presented in a stream-of-consciousness style, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow your reasoning regarding why species loss is a primary concern compared to other environmental issues.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no logical progression of ideas, and the use of cohesive devices is either missing or misused, such as the awkward transition 'in addition to, the other says'. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the different viewpoints or the conclusion. Many sentences are run-on, making it difficult to identify where one idea ends and another begins. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ linking words like 'furthermore', 'conversely', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas more fluidly and logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'problem', 'environment', and 'loss'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'the plant complete die' instead of 'the plant dies completely' and 'equatic animals' (spelling error: aquatic). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about environmental science. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'biodiversity', 'ecosystem', 'industrial waste', or 'pollutants', and focus on using these words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including run-on sentences and a lack of proper punctuation. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, for example, 'most of the species loss the life'. Additionally, the use of articles and prepositions is frequently incorrect. The essay relies almost entirely on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using commas and periods to separate distinct thoughts.
