Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and state an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the conclusion is incomplete and the overall position is not fully articulated. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and specific examples. Ensure you complete your thoughts and provide a clear, well-structured conclusion that synthesizes your arguments. The current length and lack of depth prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'For example', but these are often used repetitively or incorrectly. The paragraphing is insufficient, and the logical flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. The transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the lack of a proper conclusion makes the overall progression feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next. Improving the structure will help the reader follow your argument more easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'environmental problems' and 'plants and animals'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'cooperate with human from' and 'loss of particular species... is affect us'. These errors occasionally impede clarity. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to environmental issues, such as 'biodiversity loss', 'ecosystem services', or 'mitigation strategies'. Expanding your range of collocations and avoiding the repetition of simple phrases will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar contains frequent errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Global warming lead us'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'people might loss'), and sentence fragments. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles, pluralization, and verb tenses. Practicing the correct use of complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range and improve your accuracy.
