Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument and provide a personal opinion, the discussion is underdeveloped. For instance, the second paragraph attempts to explain the role of plants and animals but lacks clear, logical links to why this is considered the 'main' environmental problem. The conclusion is also brief and lacks sufficient justification for your stated opinion. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally', they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately, such as starting a paragraph with 'Demonstrate the role of...'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using transition words that logically connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that hinder precision. For example, you use 'articulate about' instead of 'discuss', 'sheild' (spelling error), and 'superiour' instead of 'more significant'. There is also a lack of variety in your word choice, with some repetition of basic terms. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation, such as 'emisson' (emission) and 'accomadations' (accommodations).

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'factors which contributes'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'losing of exclusive species'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While your meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to correct subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
