Student answer (Band 4.0)

In todays technological era mankind facing several environmental challenges . Some assert that the main problems is the absence of specific species of plants and animals while others argue that there are many more problems. I partially agree with this statement . Though the loss of plants and animals are obvious but no one can deny the other important problems like climate change, overpopulation, and deforestation.

Those believs that the biggest problem of todays world is excinting of many important species and animals argue that disappearing of those species creates many problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is significantly under the required 250-word minimum, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, the essay stops abruptly after only a few sentences. The introduction mentions the two sides and states a partial agreement, but the body paragraphs are not developed. Because the response is less than 100 words, it fails to address the task requirements in any meaningful way, resulting in a very low score for task achievement. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction, the lack of a body and conclusion makes it impossible to assess your ability to organize information or use cohesive devices effectively. The transition between the introduction and the start of the first body paragraph is abrupt. To improve, you should plan your essay structure before writing, ensuring you have clear topic sentences and logical links between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word formation, such as 'excinting' (extinction) and 'believs' (believers). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors occasionally hinder the reader's understanding. To achieve a higher band score, you need to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues and ensure that your spelling and word forms are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'mankind facing' (mankind is facing), 'the main problems is' (the main problem is), and 'disappearing of those species' (the disappearance of those species). The sentence structures are simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. You should also practice constructing more complex sentences to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
