Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are always been an argument that some people believe that the main issue of our time is the loss of particular flora and fauna however on the other hand others say that there are more essential environmental problems.
To begin with it, it is true that decline in the species and plants is a huge problem to our environment since their are many species that are necessary for our living. For instance, sheep’s the wool extracted from sheep is needed for creating warm clothes in winter. Next, scientist have believe that the trees are important for humans because they provide us oxygen to inhale and consume carbon dioxide from our surroundings.
Additional to it, those people who says that there are many other environmental problems that exist they point out about the global warming. To elaborate it, global warming is the main threat to human being nowadays since many people are dying from the extreme heat and lack of food and oxygen.
Then, rose in population. To explain it, rapid growth in the world population create a problem of corresponding reduction in a place for the agriculture which decrease the production of food in addition to it loss in a living place.
To conclude it, it is evident and according to my opinion I believe that the loss of particular species of plants and animals is the main problem nowadays because the loss of trees is the main cause of global warming and also the many species of animals is essential for human survival.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding sheep wool is not a strong or relevant example of environmental loss. The explanation of global warming and population growth is somewhat superficial and lacks depth. To improve, you should focus on providing more sophisticated arguments and clearer examples that directly relate to the environmental impact of species loss versus other issues like climate change or pollution. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence needs to be more academic and logically structured.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. Phrases like 'To begin with it, it is true that' and 'Additional to it' are mechanical and do not effectively connect ideas. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which makes the progression of arguments feel disjointed. While there is a clear attempt to structure the essay with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs significant improvement to ensure that ideas follow one another logically and clearly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'rose in population' instead of 'rise in population' and 'living place' instead of 'habitat'. The repetition of basic words like 'problem' and 'important' limits the sophistication of the writing. To achieve a higher score, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'biodiversity loss', 'mitigate', or 'ecological balance', rather than relying on simple, repetitive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'There are always been an argument', 'scientist have believe', and 'those people who says'. These errors involve subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence structure. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and article usage would also be highly beneficial.
