Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding biodiversity loss and pollution are somewhat superficial and lack specific, well-explained examples. The conclusion is brief and lacks clarity in justifying why the second view is more significant. To improve, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and ensure your position is clearly articulated throughout the essay rather than just in the final sentence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Moving further, the another main factor'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, making the flow of the argument feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that each idea leads logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'environment', 'problem', and 'amount'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'vanished of some plants' instead of 'the extinction of species' or 'not be degrade' instead of 'non-biodegradable'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and work on using synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people trusts', 'other says'), incorrect verb forms ('vanished of some plants'), and awkward phrasing ('pollution is very more in environment'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like articles and pluralisation will also significantly enhance your accuracy.
