Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some members of society argues about a topic which is environmental problems such as the disappearance over time of some plants and animals regularly and others say that there are more important environmental problems that.

On the one hand, people trust that environmental issues are rising rapidly because some particular species of plants and animals are vanishing. This contributes to the food chains, as a result some animals are not able to consume their designed food. For example few months ago a complete study by the food and animals department officers in which they described how the of some various species can cause disruption in food chain, which ultimately effect environment.

On the other hand some individuals think that apart from extinction there are more important environmental complications such as exploitation of earth for materials and pollution. To begin with the most popular factor is pollution

; this time pollution is excessive in environment it has been affected so more environment since the industrial revolution also affected water and air both in huge amount. Moving further, another main factor is plastic which is a non-recyclable substance this not be degrade in soil and this also not digestive sometime some animals eat this than it also killed them and it also affect environment in large amount this all are the main topic which affected environment in huge amount.

In conclusion, after brief discussion there i agree with both statements but second statement is an big problem if we correct this than on some place it also protect first statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides an opinion, though the development is quite limited. The ideas regarding the food chain and pollution are relevant but lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The conclusion is somewhat vague, stating that the second statement is a 'big problem' without clearly articulating why it outweighs the first in terms of environmental impact. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure your position is clearly stated and consistently supported throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Moving further' and 'To begin with'. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical flow between ideas is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subject matter. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is a reliance on basic terms, and some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'not be degrade' instead of 'do not biodegrade' and 'in huge amount' used repeatedly. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology related to environmental science.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some members... argues'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'this not be degrade'), and awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
