Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, the environmental issues become the major concern for both government and people. So, some people consider that, the predominant drawback of this trend is the loss of specific species of plants and animals. Others argue that there are various other issues. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that other problems such as pollution and climate change are equally important issues.
On the one hand, plants and animals play crucial role in order to balance environment and the loss of these species lead a major environmental problem .First and foremost is plants usually take co2 and produce a large amount of oxygen ,which help people to get fresh air and avoid diseases such as asthma and related to the respiratory system. if people continuous damage to plants and trees, the earth will become a ball of fire .Moreover, animals are important for food chain and helps to balance environment, the extinction of animals lead to numerous problems loss of biodiversity and food chain -disruption .
On the other hand, there are number of other environmental problems such as pollution and
climate change • Firstly, plastic waste is increasing day by day due to the exploration of new products and unnecessary packaging, which leads to water and ocean pollution and harm animals and birds. Secondly, air pollution is mainly caused by burning of fossil fuels, which is the biggest environment concern as people use more vehicle nowadays and sometime forest fire. Furthermore, climate change is also important issue, it is increased by individual activities, greenhouse gases and new exploration of technologies. As a result, crops have been damaged from few years and summer season is increasing as compared to winter.
In my opinion, Although the loss of particular species of plants and animals lead to various environmental problem but other factors are also equally crucial such as pollution and global warming. So, government need to address every problem related to the nature.
In conclusion, the number of problems occured by loss of plants and animal species but we do not overlook that several other factors are also equally common, which increase environmental issues and need to be tackle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of plants in oxygen production and the impact of pollution. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the 'ball of fire' is hyperbolic and lacks academic depth. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific examples or logical reasoning to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'Furthermore,' but their application is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the use of bullet points or symbols in the text. Referencing is generally clear, though some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple list-like structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'exploration of new products' instead of 'production' or 'consumption,' and 'summer season is increasing' instead of 'the duration of summer is extending.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic collocations. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that word choices are contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles ('the' environment), subject-verb agreement errors ('plants usually take co2'), and incorrect verb forms ('if people continuous damage'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misuse of commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction would be highly beneficial.
