Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development is limited. While you identify the loss of species and other environmental issues like deforestation, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. For instance, the mention of the dodo is a good start, but the explanation of the food chain is repetitive and lacks clarity. The position is clear, but the essay would benefit from more detailed examples and a more thorough exploration of why one perspective might be considered more pressing than the other. The conclusion is brief and lacks a summary of the main points discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive transitions. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', but they are sometimes used mechanically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'To explain it that due to many environmental problems may cause extinction', which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'environmental problems' and 'species' throughout the text. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'deplecation of ozone layer' (depletion) and 'affect on ecosystem' (effect on). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and frequent errors in word formation and spelling (e.g., 'forthcoming fragment') restrict the range and accuracy of your expression, keeping the score in the lower range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'environmental problems are become' and 'if any species are become extinct'. Sentence structures are often fragmented or run-on, and there is a lack of control over complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and commas. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of basic errors in tense, articles, and sentence construction prevents a higher score.
