Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, environmental issues become major problem. Some citizens think that loss of beneficial species of plants and animal is the primary driver for this concerns and others claim that there are some another environmental problems. Therefore, in my opinion, both the views will be discussed further.

Examining the former opinion, the primary argument the supporters would put forward is loss of particular species if plants and animals are the main reasons for environmental problems. This is because, in this modern era people wants to modify there house's furniture such as wooden sofa, dining table and cupboard. For example koa and African blackwood are highly demanded wood because of their fine and solid texture. So, business men cut down these trees for their best result of company. In addition, they kill the animals too for their leather and do business for clothing. The result is destroy the nature because these things help to preserve our environment.

On the contrary, those in favor of the latter have their own arguments. To begin with, they believe that there are more reasons to escalating concerns such as conventional travelers who generate plastic pollution and damage ecosystems. Moreover, traffic creates air pollutions which is harmful for health. For instance, in Delhi capital of India, roads of always busy due to heavy rush. in the consequence that citizens of that city suffering from lung disease and heart problems.

To conclude and offer my position, they are convincing arguments both for and against main environmental concerns. However, i certainly favor the former opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding species loss focus heavily on furniture production, which is a narrow interpretation of biodiversity loss. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding pollution is relevant but lacks depth. While the task is addressed, the supporting points are underdeveloped and rely on simplistic examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the broader implications of these environmental issues, such as the disruption of food chains or the long-term impact of climate change, rather than focusing solely on specific consumer goods or local traffic issues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On the contrary', and 'To begin with' to link your points. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'in the consequence that citizens'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking words to connect the arguments more naturally and improve the logical flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'biodiversity' (implied), 'ecosystems', and 'pollution', but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'business men cut down these trees for their best result of company' and 'roads of always busy'. There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to express your ideas more effectively and reduce the reliance on simple phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'environmental issues become major problem'), article usage (e.g., 'in Delhi capital of India'), and incorrect prepositional phrases. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by errors in syntax or punctuation. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and ensure that your basic grammar, particularly regarding plurals and articles, is more consistent throughout the text.
