Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly evolving world, the environmental problem became the topic of debate to the society and individuals. While some people firmly beleive that, the loss of particular species of animals and plants are the main issue, other argues that there are more other environmental problems we have to focus on. I will discuss both these views through this essay with my opinion at the end.

To begin with, destruction of plants and killing of animals are the most significant issue of this time. The main reason to not destroy plants is that, if there will be no plants in the furure, the production of oxygen will sharply reduce, which is the first thing humans can rely on. On the other hand, killing of animals should be ban by the authorities because it very important to keep the animals alive to run the lifecycle of humans and animals both.

In contrast, there is no doubt that other issues are also affecting environment. I would say that, taking careful steps against this situations can help reduce the environmental problems in near future. But the mandatory thing to save the world with crisis is to lower the destruction of plants and animals as much as possible.

To conclude, I firmly maintain that, it is the responsibility of each and every citizen of a country to save plants and animals. Consequently, embracing this perspective would not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the long-term development and well-being of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding oxygen production is a valid point, but it lacks depth and specific examples. The essay also falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall development of the task. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In contrast', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher band score. Ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on common phrases like 'environmental problem' and 'significant issue' repeatedly. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'other argues' (should be 'others argue') and 'run the lifecycle' (which is not a standard collocation). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and conservation, and focus on using more precise synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'the environmental problem became the topic' (should be 'has become'), 'killing of animals should be ban' (should be 'banned'), and 'against this situations' (should be 'these situations'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and pluralization to improve your accuracy.
