Student answer (Band 5.5)

PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS REGARDING WHETHER LOSS OF SPECIAL SPECIES OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS ARE MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE OR OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS GLOBAL WARMINNG, GREEN HOUSE EFFECT AND RISING SEA LEVELS ARE MORE CRUCIAL FOR HUMAN-BEING. THIS ESSAY WILL DISCUSS BOTH PERSPECTIVES BEFORE PRESENTING MY OWN OPINION.

ON THE ONE HAND, MANY INDIVIDUALS BELIEVE THAT TO SAVE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES OF NATURE LIKE PLANTS AND ANIMALS. ONE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT TODAY MANY ANIMALS SPECIES FACING THREAT OF EXTINCTION AND SIGNIFICANLY NUMBERS OF BIRDS AND ANIMALS DISAPPEARED COMPLETELY. FURTHERMORE, DUE TO HUGE DEFORESTATION AND HUMAN INTERVETION, A WIDE RANGE OF PLANT AND TREE ARE NOW UNDER TREATS. TO EXEMPLIFY, MANY ANIMAL SPECIES LIKE LION, TIGER AND BIRD SUCH AS SAPRROWS HAD MUCH LESS IN PAST THREE DECADES.

ON THE OTHER HAND, OTHER ARGUE THAT IT CRUCIAL THE LOSS OF ANIMALS AND BIRDS SPECIES, THUS THERE ARE MANY OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ARE SUBJECT OF DICUSSION AND MUST NEED SOLUTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, GLOBAL WARMING, RISING SEA LEVEL, GREEN HOUSE EFFECT AND CARBON EIMMISONS ARE ALSO CRITICAL ISSUES NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. CONSEQUENTLY, SOLVE TESE TYPE OF GLOBAL NATURAL ISSUES CAN HELP TO PROVIDE BETTER ATMOSPHERE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION ALSO REDUCE POLLUTION.

IN CONCLUSION, BOTH VIEWPOINTS HAVE THEIR OWN MERITS. WHILE LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD ADDRESS BOTH ISSUES AT ONE TIME WITH HELPING EACH OTHER AND WORKING AS ONE TEAM BECAUSE IN MY OPINION THESE BOTH ISSUES ARE VERY CRUCIAL FOR NATURAL SUPPLY CYCLE AS WELL AS FOR BETTER LIFE-STYLE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the loss of specific species and other environmental issues like global warming, and clearly states the student's own opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, in the second paragraph, the point about endangered species is introduced with a sentence fragment ('ONE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT TODAY MANY ANIMALS SPECIES FACING THREAT OF EXTINCTION...'), and the supporting examples ('LION, TIGER AND BIRD SUCH AS SAPRROWS') are underdeveloped and contain factual generalisations. Despite these weaknesses, all main components of the task are covered adequately, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into four standard paragraphs (introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion), showing an overall coherent arrangement. Logical connectors and transitional phrases such as 'ON THE ONE HAND', 'ON THE OTHER HAND', and 'IN CONCLUSION' are used to structure the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition in the third paragraph ('OTHER ARGUE THAT IT CRUCIAL THE LOSS OF ANIMALS AND BIRDS SPECIES, THUS THERE ARE MANY OTHER...') is grammatically tangled and obscures the logical relationship between the clauses. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but internal cohesion suffers from frequent referencing errors, placing this at a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary relevant to the environment, such as 'BIODIVERSITY', 'GLOBAL WARMING', 'GREEN HOUSE EFFECT', and 'DEFORESTATION'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'WARMINNG', 'INTERVETION', 'TREATS' (instead of threats), 'SAPRROWS', 'EIMMISONS', and 'TESE'. Furthermore, word choice and collocation are frequently awkward, such as 'NATURAL SUPPLY CYCLE' or 'NATURAL ISSUES'. Because these errors occur frequently and occasionally impede smooth reading, yet the vocabulary remains minimally adequate for the task, the performance aligns with Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is very weak. There are frequent sentence structure errors, missing verbs, and non-sentences. For example, 'MANY INDIVIDUALS BELIEVE THAT TO SAVE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES OF NATURE LIKE PLANTS AND ANIMALS' lacks a main predicate verb for the clause, and 'WHILE LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS' in the final paragraph is an incomplete dependent clause rather than a full sentence. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, as the entire essay is written in uppercase letters. These persistent errors cause frequent difficulty for the reader, resulting in a Band 5.0.
