Student answer (Band 5.0)

some citizens belive that the main environment issuse of present time is the loss of special types of animals and plants, while other argue that we can see many other problems in our environment. I strongly believe that the loss of particular species of plants and animals are paramount because when we lost a special type of plants and animals, we can never get it back.

some citizens have opinion that lossing of special type of animals and plants, it very crucial issue in present day in our habitat. They think that their previous and healthy food and some important kind of medicines depend on some plants and animals. If they lose this type of animals and plants, then it will become difficult to survive on the Earth. For instance, some important vitamins and medicines achieve from plants and animals.

Individual arge that there are many paramount issues in our habitat. From their perspective, we have to focus on many crucial sources in our environment, instead of focusing on plants and animals because they have no important in our enviroment. For example, in the present day, there are many important problems, like lossing energy sources and build water plants.

From my prespect, we have to pay attention on special types of plants and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both views and provide an opinion, but it falls short of the task requirements in several areas. Crucially, the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 213 words, falling well below the 250-word minimum. This leads to under-developed ideas and a lack of full extension for all parts of the prompt. While the student outlines some arguments regarding plants and animals (such as medicines and food) and counters them briefly with alternative issues like energy sources, the discussion remains superficial. Furthermore, there is a subject-verb agreement error in the writer's stated position ('the loss of particular species of plants and animals are paramount'). Due to the severe length penalty and underdeveloped arguments, this criterion warrants a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four short paragraphs, which gives it an overall structural framework corresponding to an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, progression is somewhat restricted by the brevity of the response. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes misused or repetitive (e.g., repeating 'some citizens', 'some important kind', and 'for instance'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun 'they' shifting ambiguously between plants, animals, and human populations ('If they lose this type of animals and plants...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the transition between ideas is mechanical. Considering these limitations, the coherence and cohesion of the text align best with a Band 5.0 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive. The student relies heavily on simple terms like 'environment', 'problems', 'important', and 'plants and animals'. There are frequent word-formation and collocation errors, such as 'environment issuse', 'lossing' instead of 'loss', 'vitamins and medicines achieve' instead of 'are derived' or 'obtained', and 'build water plants' instead of 'building water treatment plants' or 'managing water resources'. Although the writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'paramount', these attempts are marred by inaccurate usage and spelling mistakes. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for communication, earning a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is quite limited, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic complex structures that frequently contain errors. Examples of structural and accuracy issues include: 'some citizens belive' (missing capitalization and spelling), 'the loss of particular species of plants and animals are paramount' (subject-verb agreement error), 'lossing of special type of animals and plants, it very crucial issue' (major structural breakdown and missing verb), and 'From my prespect' (incorrect collocation and spelling). Frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and grammar cause some difficulty for the reader throughout the text. Consequently, this performance reflects a Band 5.0 level for grammar.
