Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is severely under-length, containing only 83 words compared to the required 250 words minimum. Due to this severe length penalty, the task cannot be fully addressed, and the ideas presented are left incomplete and under-developed. The student attempts to introduce the topic by stating that some people believe species loss is the primary environmental issue while others disagree, and outlines an intention to discuss both views. However, the essay breaks off mid-sentence in the first body paragraph ("On the one hand, due to the changes in global warming some living creature, are no longer part of the earth, because of changing in"). Because the response does not present a fully developed discussion or provide a personal opinion as required by the prompt, it falls into Band 4 for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The student attempts to structure the essay using a standard academic layout, including an introduction and the beginning of a first body paragraph. Transitional phrases such as "In this modern era," "While others agure," and "On the one hand" are employed to guide the reader. However, because the text is abruptly cut off and incomplete, overall progression is absent. Paragraphing is initiated but cannot be properly evaluated due to the extremely limited amount of text produced. Considering the minimal structure present, a Band 4 is appropriate.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a basic vocabulary range with several noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that impact the quality of the writing. Examples of lexical errors include "few proportion individuals" instead of 'a small proportion of individuals', "resaon" instead of 'reason', "agure" instead of 'argue', "siginficantly" instead of 'significant', and "relevent" instead of 'relevant'. While the student attempts some less common academic collocation like "primary reason" and "environmental issues," the persistent spelling and formulation errors restrict the score to Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar contains multiple foundational errors within the very short text provided. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues such as "individuals says" instead of 'say', and punctuation errors like the misplaced comma in "some living creature, are no longer part of the earth". The range of structures is extremely limited because the writing stops prematurely. While some simple structures are understandable, the frequency of errors relative to the tiny volume of output warrants a Band 4.
