Student answer (Band 6.0)

The natural environment consists of the physical world and all living things, like plants, animals, rocks, weather, and the sea, that exist without human help, thus we should protect our natural environment. A large number of individuals believes that the main concern about the environment right now is the loss of some of the endangered plant and animal species but a few believes that there are some more important environmental problems as well. This essay intends to analyze both the perspectives in the forthcoming paragraphs with relevant examples whereas, my inclination inclines towards the later one.

On the one hand, the reason of my belief is that the nature does not only contains the plants and the animals however, there are some other aspects of environment as well, such as water, nature, rocks and many more. One should also pay attention to these natural things which comes up together to make the environment. Furthermore, the natural environment is our only home, and it gives us everything we need to survive. Additinally, To reduce environmental problems, we must plant more trees, stop using single-use plastic, save water and energy, and follow the 3Rs rule: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Every small eco-friendly step we take today helps keep our Earth clean and safe for the future.

On the other hand, mankind who advocates that the main environmental problem is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. As it is obeous that the large part of the environment consist of the plants and the animals as thay provide us the sources which are required to survive such as the oxygen and food. Additionally, these are also conidered as the heritage and the pride of a country thus it is the main reason for people to have their strong wish to protect the endangered species.

In my opinion, i believe that these particularly endangered species much be protected so that they won't get extincted and to save it for the upcoming youth as well but it is also important to safeguard the other natural environment as well.

In conclusion, in the wake of above, it can be clearly, easily and logically concluded that, protecting the earth requires everyday choices like recycling, saving energy, and reducing waste so we can build a cleaner and safer home for tomorrow.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the loss of species as the main problem versus other environmental issues—and states an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and contains confusion in referencing the two views in the introduction and body paragraphs. For instance, the writer states 'my inclination inclines towards the later one', but the body paragraph arrangement and phrasing slightly blur the distinction. Ideas are supported with relevant general points like reducing waste and protecting habitats, but some arguments remain underdeveloped and over-generalised. The position is clear throughout, though the expression of ideas lacks sharp focus. This performance aligns well with the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate the different views and the personal opinion. However, cohesion is at times faulty or mechanical, relying on overly formulaic transitional phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion, in the wake of above'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrasing 'inclination inclines towards the later one' and minor confusion in linking sentences together. While the logical progression is generally maintained, the mechanical nature of the cohesive devices keeps this criterion at a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'endangered', 'eco-friendly', 'extinct', and 'safeguard'. There are, however, several noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation throughout the text, such as 'obeous' instead of obvious, 'thay' instead of they, 'conidered' instead of considered, and the awkward lexical item 'extincted' instead of extinct. Although these lexical errors do not seriously impede communication, they highlight limitations in precision and control, making a Band 6.0 the most appropriate descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-style structures (e.g., 'so that they won't get extincted'). However, there is a frequent presence of grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including subject-verb agreement issues ('A large number of individuals believes', 'the nature does not only contains') and morphological mistakes ('much be protected' instead of must be protected). Punctuation and sentence boundary errors also occur, such as comma splices ('...without human help, thus we should protect...'). Because the errors are noticeable but rarely completely obscure the meaning, the grammar fits the Band 5.5 to 6.0 profile, comfortably landing at Band 6.0.
