Student answer (Band 5.0)
People have different opinions about environmental problem. Some think that environmental problem of our time is extinct of rare species of plants and animals. While other believes that there are many other environmental problems. In my opinion, i completely agree that rare species of plants and animals are extinct.
To begin with environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. One of the main reason is that many people cut forest and they did not recycle the waste. This is because many diseases spread. As a result it affect the plants and animals life. Addtionaly many rare species have extinct from the world.
On the other hand, many people believes that there are to many other environmental problem. For example many people use plastic bottle after use they left on roads or any other places. For instance it effect nature. Furthermore, wastage of factories also main issue for environmerntal problem.
In conclusion, there are valid argument on both side. The first view suggest that cutting forest and use of plastic is major reason of loss of particular species of plant and animals. The second view suggest that wastage of factories is also major issue for environment. However i believe that extinction of rare plants and animals is major issue. Overall this topic depend upon different situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views and provide an opinion, but it falls short of fully exploring the complexities of the prompt. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the student's response contains only 223 words. This under-length impacts the depth of task fulfillment. The student's position is stated as agreeing that rare species are going extinct, but the supporting arguments are limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on cutting forests and factory waste lacks specific development and tends to blur the distinction between the two views in the conclusion. Ideas are under-developed, placing this response firmly in Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organized into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as 'To begin with', 'Addtionaly', and 'For instance'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is somewhat erratic; for example, the conclusion introduces confusion by stating that the topic depends on different situations rather than clearly summarizing the preceding arguments. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'This is because many diseases spread', which lacks a clear antecedent. Overall, these limitations reflect Band 5 cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'environmental problem', 'animals', 'plants', and 'major issue'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'extinct' used as a noun instead of 'extinction', 'Addtionaly', and 'environmerntal'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, the limitations in range and frequent lexical errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Collocations are unnatural in places, such as 'use of plastic is major reason'. These features are characteristic of Band 5 lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple sentence structures with a few attempts at complex forms, such as 'While other believes that there are many other environmental problems.' However, these complex sentences are frequently faulty, containing errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other believes', 'there are to many', 'argument on both side'), tense consistency, and missing articles. Punctuation is also weak, with missing commas after introductory phrases and lowercase letters used for the pronoun 'i'. Errors are frequent and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptors.
