Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environment is a part of our life. Due to that, many individuals believe that decreasing the particular species of plants and animals are the main environmental problem. Whereas, some people think that there are more pivotal environmental problems. This essay will articulate both the perspective along with my view.

To commence with the first view, loosing a specific species of plants and animals is a major environmental issues. To be more precise, due to the urbanization and deforestation plants and animals are extincting. Because of that food chain are disturbing and may cause many adverse effects of it. For instance, before a decade, deers were seen in huge quantity and they were part of food chain. Over the time, their species are declining. Consequently, food chain will disturb and become a environmental issues.

On the other hand, there are many significant issues, which is seen as environmental problems like, air pollution, water pollution, war between two countries and many more. To further elaborate on this, this are also the major problems, which can badly affect to the environment. To exemplify, according to one reserch held by Times Of India accounts that, because of water pollution and doing saveral wars between contries, ozone are breaking there layers in atmosphere. As a result, temperature will increasing and in many parts of the world.

According to my percpective, I believe that each and every issues which can lead environmental damage or disturbing the nautural processes are the pivotal problem for environment. Either it is about loss of species or the pollution, both are equally responsible.

To recapitulate, saveral reasons are responsible for the environmental damage. That is why both views have merits and I firmly believe that as a citizen it is our responsibility to maintain environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that biodiversity loss is the main environmental problem, and that other issues are more significant—while also providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion and body paragraphs. The ideas are generally relevant, though some arguments are slightly under-developed or supported with vague examples, such as referencing a research study from Times Of India without concrete details. The position is maintained throughout the essay. While the development of ideas could be extended further for a higher band, the writer successfully covers the prompt's core requirements, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices can be somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent transitions 'To commence with', 'To be more precise', and 'To further elaborate'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'due to that' and 'this are also the major problems'. Progression is discernible, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical awkwardness and mechanical signposting, placing this response solidly at Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'urbanization', 'deforestation', 'biodiversity', and 'pivotal'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'loosing' instead of 'losing', 'extincting' instead of becoming extinct, 'food chain are disturbing' instead of being disrupted, and 'saveral' instead of several. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, reflecting a mix of adequate attempts and frequent lexical inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors are present, including subject-verb agreement issues ('food chain are disturbing', 'temperature will increasing', 'this are also'), incorrect pluralization ('each and every issues'), and awkward phrasing ('doing saveral wars'). Punctuation and article usage also show persistent flaws. Although the meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures prevents the essay from reaching Band 6, placing it at Band 5.
