Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people thinks that the important environmental consequences that we are facing is the loss of some particular species of plants and animals. While some others believe that they are more important environmental issues. In my opinion there are a lot of reasons why are these issues are surging continuosly.
Firstly one of the major cause of environmental problems is carbon emission. There are many trasportation vehicles who emits unusual carbon which are dangerously affect our environment. Many people faces different diseases because of pollution that are present in the air which we inhale. This leads a serious damage to our ecosystem. Moreover different industries and factories are also emits their harmfull chemicals in air and in rivers polluted water which is definately causes the deaths of aquatic life. For instance platic wastes are also the big reason of environmental problem because it is non biodegradeable and cannot be decompose creating lot of pollution mess.
On the other hand cutting of trees and loss of different animal species are also an important issues that we are facing. Plants gives us oxygen and takes in carbon dioxide which is very beneficial to keep our environment clean and healthy. Many animals plays a critical role in keeping ecosystem healthy, cleaning waste naturally and fighting against climate change.
To conclude that there are several other reasons of environmental problems which we are facing nowadays. Animals and plants plays very important roles to keep environment clean and heathy and their loss cause a big disadvantage to environment. Transportation system needs to adap new technology which are eco friendly and less noisy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both views regarding whether plant and animal loss is the main environmental problem compared to others, and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. In the introduction, the writer states 'While some others believe that they are more important environmental issues', which is slightly unclear and repetitive. The body paragraphs touch upon relevant ideas such as carbon emissions, industrial pollution, and deforestation, but these points are generalized and lack deep extension or specific real-world examples beyond vague mentions of plastic waste and oxygen. The conclusion attempts to summarize the arguments but introduces a slightly new point regarding transportation technology. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of support places this performance at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays basic overall organization with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by mechanical and inadequate cohesive devices. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Firstly one of the major cause' and 'To conclude that' are misused or grammatically flawed, lacking proper punctuation and integration. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun use such as 'they are more important environmental issues' where the antecedent is ambiguous. While there is a logical separation of ideas between pollution in the second paragraph and habitat loss in the third, the overall flow is hindered by weak cohesion, aligning with a Band 5.0 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited and repetitive vocabulary with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of basic or misused vocabulary include 'surging continuosly', 'harmfull chemicals', 'non biodegradeable', and 'plastic wastes are also the big reason'. There are also frequent spelling errors such as 'trasportation', 'definitely' spelled as 'definately', 'decompose' used instead of 'decomposed', and 'adap' instead of 'adopt'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'ecosystem', 'carbon emission', and 'aquatic life', the high frequency of word-choice and spelling errors prevents the lexical range from achieving a higher band, reflecting a Band 5.0 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some faulty attempts at complex ones. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors like 'Many people thinks' and 'trasportation vehicles who emits', missing articles such as 'leads a serious damage', and preposition errors like 'in air and in rivers polluted water'. Furthermore, sentence boundary issues and missing commas are prevalent (e.g., 'In my opinion there are a lot of reasons'). Because errors are frequent and occasionally strain comprehension, this falls under Band 4.5, which is represented by Band 5.0 descriptors for a mixed profile.
