Student answer (Band 5.0)
While, some prople say that today the main environmental problem is the loss of particular species of plant and animals. Others take the view that, there are more other important problembs. In my opinion, despite the loss of particular species there are other more important environmental problems.
On one side of the argunment, loss of particular species of plants and animals is one of the major environmental problem. By cutting down the trees the air become polluted that is very harmful to humans health. Furthermore, the hunters nowadays are hunting more animals due to which biodiversity increases. For example, last year the forest near my hometown was cutt down by one international company after that the oxygen level in this area is reduced. But there are many other environmental problems.
Despite the above argunment, I am of the view that there are other more important environmental problembs. The most compeilling one is the rising traffic and the exessive use of plastic that make smoke plays a mojor role in environment pollution. Along with, the factories that produce gases are also very dangerous. From these gases many diseases occurs in human like lungs problems and heart diseases. For example, one of my friend is living in a industrial area their whole family have a lungs problem due to the gases in air produce by industries.
In conclusion, today the environemtal problembs increasing day by day some people thinks that the main reason for that is the loss of animals and plants but the are also many other problems that take part in it and make the environment polluted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether the loss of species is the main environmental problem and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding biodiversity is confused with the statement 'biodiversity increases' when discussing hunting, which misinterprets the ecological concept. Examples are provided, such as the forest near the hometown being cut down, but they lack depth and analytical extension. The position is stated in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay, though the reasoning relies heavily on generalisations rather than fully articulated arguments. Overall, the performance aligns with the Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is arranged into four paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is lacking, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'On one side of the argunment' and 'Despite the above argunment'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing is misused in places; for example, the final sentence of the second body paragraph abruptly shifts to introducing other problems, which belongs in the subsequent paragraph. Repetitive phrasing ('other environmental problembs') further weakens cohesion. These features place the response firmly in Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by spelling mistakes and awkward word choices. Words such as 'prople' (people), 'problembs' (problems), 'argunment' (argument), 'cutt' (cut), 'exessive' (excessive), 'mojor' (major), 'compeilling' (compelling), and 'environemtal' (environmental) recur throughout the text. The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'biodiversity' and 'industrial area', but inaccuracies in collocation and spelling cause strain for the reader. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, satisfying the requirements for Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the air become polluted', 'many diseases occurs'), punctuation errors, and awkward phrasing ('their whole family have a lungs problem'). Sentence structures are often disjointed, such as 'The most compeilling one is the rising traffic and the exessive use of plastic that make smoke plays a mojor role in environment pollution.' While basic meaning usually gets across, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies restricts the score to Band 5.
