Student answer (Band 5.0)

Peoples says that the environmental problem of our time is loss of important plant species and many other problem that destroy our environmental conditions.

one the first hand, deforstationare are the major problem in the modern era.people cannot know the benefits of many types of plant species .So they cut out the trees and lead to the environment pollution.as we know that the plants paly a cruicial role tu clean the air and also provided oxygen for breathing. Therefore trees are important factor of our society that keep environment clean.we should avoid from the deforstation.

On the second hand, there are many other factors that play significant role to polluted our environment.i also bileive that there are many activities like air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution also destroyed our environment.many people use their own transport instead of the public transport. so the large amount of fossil feul are used and they lead to environment polluted.in other hand water pollution also effect on the environment problems like dirty water of the many chemical industries also effect on land and destroy the fertility of soil.when soil lose their fertility the cannot be able tu growing the new plant species and then our environment face many problems like lake of fresh water.

These factors make our environnment dirty and creat many environmental problems

Conclusion, basically both of peoples opinion are correct.people who believed that the lake of particular species of plants is responsible of environmental problems is perfect.and people who believe that there are many other important factors lead to environment polluted are true.so i strongly agree both of reasons are lead to environment problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on environmental problems and providing a personal opinion, satisfying the basic requirements. However, the ideas are limited and somewhat under-developed. For instance, the discussion on plant loss remains basic with repetitive points about cleaning the air, and the points about water and air pollution lack detailed extension or specific examples. The writer attempts to present a position throughout the text, concluding with a stance that both reasons are valid, but the development across the body paragraphs lacks depth. To reach higher bands, the writer needs to elaborate fully on each viewpoint with well-supported arguments and distinct supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the response, featuring a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the arrangement feels disjointed at times. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately, such as awkward transitional phrases like 'one the first hand' and 'On the second hand'. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences often run together without adequate mechanical cohesion or referencing. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive links more accurately and ensure logical progression between ideas to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'deforestation', 'fertility', and 'fossil fuel', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice, such as 'environnment', 'feul', and 'lake' instead of 'lack'. While the meaning can mostly be discerned, these lexical inaccuracies and frequent spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range, ensure accurate word formation, and pay closer attention to spelling and precise word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and agreement, such as 'Peoples says', 'deforstationare are', 'water pollution also effect on', and 'soil lose their fertility the cannot be able tu growing'. These frequent errors, along with missing capitalisation and run-on sentences, cause noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader. To move up, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of sentence patterns with improved accuracy in verb forms, articles, and basic grammatical concord.
