Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, environmental problems are inccreasing day by day. Many people believe that lost of particular species like plants and animals are the main problem. While other argues that there are many other environmental problems instead of lost of species. I strongly believe that other environmantal are more as compared with species.
On the one hand, lost of species is the biggest threat for environment. To elaborate, many plants species are vanished and this is not a good sign for envoronment because many of them was very beneficial for environment to purifying air and for the use medical purpose. For example, Siliphium which was a seource of cure of cough. Moreover, for nature animals are also imprtant because they maintain the biodiversity and sustainability of natural ecoystem.
on the other hand, there are plenty of environmental problems such as air pollution. To explain, in these days air pollution is the biggest threat of people because the ratio of health isuues is increasing due to air pollution. For instance, in big cities like Delhi, people can not go outside without mask and this problem is becoming problametic for individuals. Furthermore, water pollution is also an important issue because in many cities, people do not ave enough seource of drinking water and they encourage to drink well and rivers water but due to consumption of impure water they can get health issues. For exapmle, Rajasthan.
Thus it can be concluded that, other environmental problems are more as compared with lost of species like air pollution, sound polltion and water polltion, but lost of species can not be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on environmental problems and providing a clear, though simple, personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the loss of plant and animal species leading to a decline in biodiversity, alongside counter-arguments highlighting air and water pollution. However, these ideas are somewhat under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the example of the plant 'Siliphium' or cities like Delhi are introduced but lack deeper elaboration to reach a higher level of extension. To move up, the writer needs to explore each argument in greater depth with more fully realized supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance and distinct paragraphing that separates the introduction, the two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, using phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'To elaborate', and 'on the other hand'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical rather than entirely smooth, and referencing or linking between sentences occasionally feels abrupt. To achieve the next band level, the writer should integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the transitions between sentences create an even clearer, seamless progression of thought.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas on the topic, successfully employing task-related terms like 'biodiversity', 'ecosystem', and 'air pollution'. However, the range is limited, and there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'inccreasing', 'lost' instead of 'loss', 'environmantal', 'seource', and 'polltion'. These inaccuracies reflect a struggle with less common lexical items and word forms, though they generally do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message. Expanding the repertoire of precise academic vocabulary and eliminating spelling errors would significantly improve this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a basic mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as the conditional-like structure in 'people do not ave enough seource... but due to consumption... they can get health issues'. There are several grammatical errors present, including missing articles ('for environment', 'for medicine purpose'), pluralisation issues ('health isuues'), and subject-verb agreement problems ('other argues', 'plants species are vanished'). These errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader, and attempts at complex structures often contain faults. Greater control over basic syntax, articles, and verb forms is needed to improve accuracy.
